“The questions that so many western women ask, such as, “Shall I be able to breastfeed?” are rather like asking “Can I breathe?” or “Can I walk?”. Women in peasant societies do not talk about trying to breastfeed – they know they can do it.”   Sheila Kitzinger

Just beyond the challenge of giving birth is the experience of breastfeeding your baby. Like birth, if you want to breastfeed, you may have to be determined to take this natural route in a modern world that offers alternatives. Some mothers and babies take to breastfeeding easily and naturally, but often there are challenges in the first few weeks, which for many can be enough to give up. Did you know that there are a variety of ways you can get support in the early days? Like giving birth, it is advisable to gain as much knowledge as possible while you are pregnant in order to make informed choices if problems arise.

This evening workshop will look at a wide variety of common obstacles to breastfeeding and how to overcome them. The workshop will include the opportunity to talk with some new mothers about their breastfeeding experiences.
